Jose F. Bernardo, MD, MPH, FASN

Nephrologist Jose F. Bernardo, MD, MPH, FASN, is Kidney Hypertension Clinic's newest physician treating patients in our Gwinnett County offices.

Dr. Bernardo previously worked at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he served as an Associate Professor of Medicine in the school's Renal-Electrolyte Division.

A native of Huancayo, Peru, Dr. Bernardo received his medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima, Peru in 1984 and had clinical training in Peru in Internal Medicine & Nephrology. After moving to the USA in 1991, he completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology in 1994 and received an MPH degree in Epidemiology in 1996 from the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh in 1999. He retrained in Internal Medicine (1996-1999) followed by a fellowship in Nephrology (1999-2001) at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Bernardo has extensive clinical experience in taking care of patients with different stages of kidney disease and need for dialysis as well as experience in transplant medicine. He has been involved in education at the undergraduate and graduate level and in clinical research. With a passion in clinical research, Dr. Bernardo has been at the forefront of medicine in hopes to bring the most advanced standards to Kidney Hypertension Clinic's patients.

Dr. Bernardo is fluent in both English and Spanish and is accepting new patients.
